Posted on February 5th, 2016 by Sonia Carswell

At the end of January, 9th Lymington took part in the RN Recognised Sea Scout Swimming Gala at HMS Raleigh.

Altogether 19 Scouts squads and 11 Explorer Squads took part in the 2016 gala near Torbay. The 9th Lymington Sea Scout and Explorer squads did exceptionally well, progressing to the finals.

Congratulations to the Sea Scout squad (Oli, Luca, Josh, Anna, Micky and Sam) and the Explorer squad (Callum, Lucas, Tom H, Tom P, Ben and Joe) who achieved some excellent results for 9th Lymington:

1st in U16 freestyle (Callum)

3rd in U16 breast stroke (Tom H)

3rd in U14 backstroke (Oli)

3rd in U18 breast stroke (Joe)

3rd in U14 breast stroke (Luca)

The U16’s were 1st in their Medley & gained the overall 1st for their age group.

Both squads also excelled in the line throw competitions:

Sea Scouts – 1st with a time of 2.48

Explorers – 1st with a time of 1.39
Well done to everyone who participated, including the reserves who put in so much effort during training. Many thanks also to the leaders and helpers of 9th Lymington, whose enthusiasm and dedication have been fantastic.
